Please try this out: take the battery out and plug the camera to a wall charger. See if the camera turns on without the battery.
If it does, then it could be an issue on the battery. If it does not turn on, it's most likely on the unit itself.

A mesma coisa aconteceu comigo.

Thank you for reaching out. Sorry to hear about the trouble with the camera. Definitely not an experience that we would like you to have. Have you tried charging the camera with a different battery? Does the camera power on when connected directly connected to a power source without the battery? This could be a case of a defective battery, or camera. Whichever the case is, let our Support team help. You can reach them via phone or chat through https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs. As youhave already made an exchange with the seller of the camera, you can also consider the same path for a faster turn around time, but be sure to test the camera first before leaving the store. Feel free to post back for any other questions you might have.

Marius, unfortunately I don't have another battery to try. My son has a GP Hero 3 but the batery model is different.
Anyway, there is a defect that avoid me to use the camera and according to Brazil's law I have right to change it by a perfect one, that of course it is what I bought. Also I have to follow the time to complain according to the law....
So, currently I'm sending the camera back to the seller and I have to wait them to send me another one.
One thing that bother me, is that according to the GP community this is a common problem. How come?
How we receive cameras that don't turn or independently if the problem is in the cable, battery, camera whatever...Quality assurance must check it out.
Best regards, Mario

Great to hear back from you, @coolsurf66713.
I agree. Quality assurance is a must. Undeniably, there have been similar situations when a camera is found to be non-working out of the box. But these cameras were from distributors or sellers, and may have been with them for a period of time so we are not able to ascertain the functionality of every unit at all times. That is why it is a good thing that we receive such feedback so we can be made aware that there are issues with some of the units being sold. Feel free to post back on this thread to let us know how it goes when you get your replacement camera. Again, our Support team is always available to help further.

Unfirtunatelly I don't have good news. Although I sent my non working camera back to the seller 10 day ago it did not receice yet. My trip to Peru will start in 8 days and I believe I'll not use the camera I intended to use.
Again: 1- Go Pro look for good sellers to sell your products, in the end your name is exposed.
2- Implement a better Quality assurance process. I researched and I saw many complaints about GP Hero 5 that doesn't turn on.
