Hi, I guess I´ve ran out of options here and while I am getting help from gopro support I´ll try to find answer here as well.
So I own a GOPRO HERO 4 SILVER and have been using this card for about 3 years with no problems:
SanDisk Extreme 64 GB microSDXC Memory Card up to 60MB/s, Class 10, U3
Recently my Gopro started showing "SD ERR", so I tried formatting the card in the computer (did not solve it), also tried special formatting software (did not help).
I am unable to format the card in the camera itself as it always says "Delete failed"
Sweet lady from customer support suggested to update the camera software, but to do that, there has to be a SD card inside the camera, but the camera will not communicate with any card ( always SD ERR) so I am unable to update the software. Also tried cleaning the SD slot with compressed air with no result...

@tomasb4120 - Have you tried the manual update? Even if you get an SD ERR when the camera is operating, you may still be able to get the update installed since it's a separate package that installs before the camera even gets into its normal operations mode.

Yes, I was guided by gopro support over the phone to do the manual update, unfortunately after turning the camera on with the SD card inside (with appropriate update files on it) the camera still displays an SD ERR and does not update. Needless to say, I've tried with multiple cards. Also tried to do this via the gopro phone app, but on the check list before the update begins, the app detects the card's presence in the camera, but shows "not enough space" in red font, which is weird.

I have the exact same issue and it is infuriating! Only after threatening legal action did GoPro admit this was a known issue that they can't fix and offered me a discount on new products. I have a drone and bunch of accessories to fit the gopro 4 and they would only sell me new products which is just unacceptable.
It sucks! I really wish there was a solution to this

What did GoPro end up doing, who do I call to get this replaced. I'm on chat and they are giving me the same info I've been doing for the last year. SO FRUSTRATING. HAPPENED last year in 2018, couldn't use on my trip, and now this year, still cannot use it!
