Fusion studio.. Where is the "remove fisheye"option for Overcatpured footage?

Hello, I bought a Gopro Session some years ago, and yesterday I received my Fusion...

I must premise i HATE the fisheye distortion, but I remember it could be removed in GoPro Stidio from my Session's footage...

I was pretty sure I'd found this option is "fusion studio" too, I can't believe that if you OverCapture a flat video you can't get rid of that fu**ing distortion!.

Is GoPro software evolution moving backwards?

Re: Fusion studio.. Where is the "remove fisheye"option for Overcatpured footage?

Distortion removal is something that you accomplish when adjusting the FOV. You decide the perspective so it's really not something the software can, or should, do automatically.  Keep in mind, it's a 360 camera.  360 is circular. Unlike an action camera that will have some lens distortion due to filming in 170 degrees, the Fusion is capturing 360 degrees of footage.

Are you editing in Premiere Pro?  Fusion Studio is primarily for stitching the two lens images.  With Premiere Pro you can make aditional adjustments with the vr plugins to help you get closer to the look you are after.  You can also export from Fusion Studio as Fisheye and then remove the distortion in Adobe Primere Pro or other editor.  In Fusion Studio you have the option of outputting the video in 360, little planet and fisheye.  Decreasing the FOV brings the image closer to the center of the lens so you will have less distortion.  Again, it's a 360 camera.  If you decrease the FOV the image will become more flat as you are using less of the lens, but it's a 360 degree FOV camera.  A completely flat image without any curvature isn't really what these kinds of cameras are made for.  In Premiere Pro you can fix the distortion even more, but you want to keep in mind that you filmed with a 360 degree FOV camera meant to capture everything in 360 degrees.  The fisheye happens because it is capturing 360 degrees of footage.

Re: Fusion studio.. Where is the "remove fisheye"option for Overcatpured footage?

Hi, thanks for replying...

Ok, I still have to get used to some basic concept...

I'm used to drones and I tend to apply what I've esperienced in these years with them.., I remember le earliest DJI Phantom drones had a lot of distortion in their footage... then, Parrot with their Bebop and DJI itself started producing drones capable to deliver some perfectly distortion free video and images.. it was time to forget that odious distortion.. Bebop and DJI Spark get a "moving" 1080 rectangular window from a fisheye semi-sphere, then they add sonme software correction...
DJI Mavic delivers perfectly straight photos even by using the whole lens surface... so, in my head I think eradicate the curved image problem in an image taken by a wide angle lens is possible!
Now, why isn't it possible to get a 1080 window (OverCapture) from the full 360 degrees FOV and straigthen it a littler bit with the aid of software processing? one of the reasons I purchased this camera was the Overcapture function, propoted as "capable to extrapolate hi-quality flat video / photos from 360 degree stuff..
Unfortunately I don't have Premier, for me it's just a hobby, i use Davinci Resolve 14 free version....

Apologize for my poor English  :-)
