So I reached out to support and they currently have my files and have engineers looking at them to see if they can save them... Fingers crossed, but I'm not holding out hope.
The rep told me Error 218 relates to one or more of the following:
1. Camera Firmware needs to be updated
2. Some shots are incoherent. Examples:
- the user dropped a 2 chapter video, and the second chapter misses the back face,
- the user dropped a single file/set of files for a face,
- the user dropped the chapter one for a face, and the chapter two for the other face,
- the user dropped duplicate files (same shot id, same chapter): result is we have per example 2 chapter 0 for the same shot
None of these actually pertained to me... firmware was up to date and I didn't drop anything (at least intentionally). I did notice however that when I connected to the camera from my phone, one of the chapters in my video looked different than the others and when I went to view it fullscreen in the app it didn't load (just black). I assume this means that file was corrupted, but I don't believe it was due to anything I did. Screenshot attached (notice the top right one not being circular... Chapter 1 of 3... other chapters I can view fine)
Along the way he had me format my SD cards (not just deleting files, actually going into Disk Utility on OS X and clearing it that way), then recording a new video and seeing if it loaded fine in Fusion Studio and it did... so if you are being held up from recording more, I would advise dumping the files on your cards to something local like your computer or an external HD, formatting your cards, and recording again. Hopefully it's just a matter of one of your video files being corrupted.
I will report back when I hear from GoPro and if they were able to save the footage or not as well as any explanation they can give.

Any other updates from this? I have an impoort clip that got lost. I'm using Fusion 1.1 to render, and I did update GoPro Fusion to the latest version before recording (as with the earlier poster, I don't seem to fit into any of the categories neatly). I have had the GoPro turn off on me a few times while recording because (my guess) the room was hot, and I was going over 10 minutes in video. I've successfully recorded 45 minutes straight previous instances, so this wasn't always the case, but on this one particular day the room temp hit 80 degrees and I've had it shut-off on me. All other instances worked fine, but one file is corrupt.
I'll also note, I did have this issue happen previously, but Fusion 1.1 fixed the problem. This one clip, though, hasn't been fixed and not really sure what to do next....

Unfortunately not a great update... they asked me for the files and said they'd work on them to see if they could salvage, but then said it didn't look good and offered to replace the camera in case it was a hardware issue (doubtful, but why not give it a shot). The bummer is lost footage is not replaceable...
Ultimately, my lost footage wasn't the end of the world for the project I was doing so I guess NBD... but if this happened on some epic snowboarding run or something it might be enough to get me to leave the GoPro ecosystem altogether... :-/
Can't hurt to reach out and see if they can do something, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Same problem can't render.... also load from 2 folder, back and front are weird, should you just drag and drop all files you need like any other software do??

I'm getting the same issue. I have upgraded the camera to 1.80 and formatted cards fresh. Also I tried this on 1.20 of fusion studio on mac and pc.
The only way i can get video off the camera is using the app and i'm limited to 0:33 clips this way.
I also tried renaming/removing the mentioned file in the error to see if i could proceed with the rest, however it will throw this error continually.
I'm trying to import from a directory that has the back/front folders copied in along with connecting the camera via usb.
