Fusion File Names All of a sudden are different - why?

[ New ]

For example:

GB040003.MP4

GF040224.MP4

GPBK0003.MP4

GPFR0422.MP4

On previous files, the names were the same except for the FR and BK

Also, is the file number kept on the SD card(s)?

If so, could I edit one of them to match the other?

Does the number automatically reset at a certain point?

Thanks.

Hello, @jackk73061. Could the GB040003.MP4 and GF040224.MP4 files be the second chapter of a long clip or recording that was split or transferred?

For reference, please check out the file naming convention here https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/GoPro-Camera-File-Naming-Convention/ta-p/390220 .

Let us know what you find out. Thanks!

I may have mistyped the above file names. Here are they from a 5 second, 32K video I just created.

GPBK0001.MP4

GPFR0227.MP4

How can one reset the primary file numbers so they matched?

See attached.

Thanks,

Jack

PS - It seems that one can only attach one file

This is odd, @jackk73061. All the file names should match, with just the FR and BK being different to indicate which lens captured the footage. Are these the only contents of the SD card? The file name corresponding to the front and back footage of the same video must have the same number.

Is your camera updated to the latest firmware? Which version is it on? Also, which SD card are you using in the camera? Are they identical cards? Thanks!

Hi,

Firmware is 1.8 (2.0 beta was a waste of time)

SD cards - San Disk 128GB A1 10 SDXCI

I have already done a RESET to the camera also reformated the SD cards.

Thank you for going through the steps, @jackk73061. I gather that the update to version 1.80 was done manually. At this point, it would be best to engage our Support team for a closer look into the matter. To connect with them, visit https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs . Once there, select "Contact Us" and proceed with either chat or a callback request.

When you get to a representative, you may direct them here for reference on what has already been done and checked. Thanks!

Okay, here is the current status of this fiasco.

When out and brought two new SD cards - San Disk Image Mate Pro UHS-1 4K Ultra HD A2

Installed to Fusion and used the camera to format them.

That fixed the numbering problem.

Uninstalled GoPro Fusion Studio V1.4C2 and reinstalled it.

A new problem came up as when I started Studio it could not see the files in the camera!

I had to download them to the desktop and pick the other option to "Add Media".

What's next?

This camera is/was not ready for prime time.

What kind of deal can I get if I order a MAX and return the Fusion?

(The $100 discount currently in place is not enough)

Jack

Thanks,

Jack

Hello, @jackk73061. Ultra cards are not recommended for GoPro cameras as they are known to cause performance issues.  There is a list of recommended SD cards here .

Does Fusion Studio detect the camera and the media in it when you were using the old cards? Make sure you use the cable that came with the camera.

Should the issue still persist, our Support team will be able to assist you further. Connect with them through https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs .
