Frezzes

[ New ]

I purchased the GoPro 8 for my hawaii trip. The reason why I bought it was because it is water proof. I took my camera into the water with me and after I got out I wanted to look at the photos I took. The problem was is it kept frezzing. When I slid up to preview the pictures it frooze. When I tried to take a video it frooze. When I tried to do anything it kept frezzing. This morning I went swimming with sharks and the camera would record and take pictures, but again it wont let me preview. it. Then I uploaded it up to my phone and all the videos and pictures are black. Im really upset.

@daringtree2301, sorry to hear about the trouble. What's the SD card used? Using SD cards that aren't recommended can cause issues like freezing as the card isn't fast enough to write the content, the camera getting hot or battery consumption is higher than normal as the camera stays in an active mode trying to sync to the card. You can get the full list of microSD cards that are known to work well with GoPro cameras at https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/SD-Cards-that-Work-with-GoPro-Cameras/ta-p/394308 .

It is also advisable to format the SD card before use. (NOTE: Reformatting the SD card will delete all data off of the card, so be sure that you save any videos or pictures you want to keep on your computer before reformatting the SD card.)

Reinstalling the firmware update of the camera can also help correct any errors with the current software installation. Follow the Manual Update instructions specified in this article: https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/How-to-Update-GoPro-Cameras/ta-p/394229

I’m using the SD card that came with the camera. I was able to save video and pictures up until I went in to the water. It shows that it saved to my app, but all the pictures and videos are black/ wont load.
