Am new to GoPro and recently got a black 7 as a gift. I have bought a SanDisk Extreme Pro 64gb SD Card. I have put it in the GoPro, it tells me it needs formatting so I agree. It states it is formatting for around an hour and then turns itself off?? When I turn it back on it says the SD card needs formatting and it does the same. The GoPro is connected so power so its not running out of battery. The only computer I have is a MacBook Air which doesnt have a card reader to format the card that way. Can anyone assist as I go on a snowboarding holiday in just over a week and hope to have this resolved by then.
Regards in advance.

just an update regarding this dilema.
I have taken the GoPro and the SD card to a computer/gaget store. This baffled them aswell until they checked the SD card and said it does have 64gb of memory however, it was not running at nearly the speed it should have been for a class 10 and believed that this was the problem.
I did purchase another card in the store this time a SanDisk Extreme Plus 64gb. Immediatly this worked without any problems.
The corrupt/damage card will be returned to the well known online shopping store with the request for a full refund.
Thank you for your advice and assistance in assisting me with this problem.

I don't have a computer that I can do this on at the moment. My friend brought over his original GoPro1, the SD Card will format and record in this but again will no format for the BLACK7

Got it @rapidpike36066,
Please try to reset the camera as well and check if that will work.
Or if you can get a spare SD card (Check this link: https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/microSD-Card-Considerations) that would help us to verify what is the exact problem.

Right, I've taken a SanDisk ULTRA 16gb micro SD out of my DJI Drone. This Formats in the BLACK7 in about 10 seconds and appears to work without a problem (but will only record for 50mins.)
The SanDisk EXTREME PRO 64gb will work in the drone however it advises that it will run slow and you should change it.
Why wont the EXTREME PRO work in the BLACK7 when this is one of the advised SD Cards for this device??
If I now go out and buy a 64gb SanDisk ULTRA (Which is not recommended for the BLACK7) and this doesnt work I will just be throwing money away.

It might be a defective SD card @rapidpike36066,
Not sure though. Haven't encountered issue like that personally and I also tried using SanDisk Extreme and ULTRA.
I am encountering minor glitch or issue when using ultra but not when using Extreme.
Best way to check if the camera is defective or the camera is to update the camera manually, install a new firmware.

Thank you for your assistance in this,
I have reset the whole camera and completed all updates using the 16gb SanDisk ULTRA card that was working so the camera is running on version 01.61.00, I assume this is the latest version??
Even with this updated I have exactly the same problems.
Are there any outlets/retailers that would check the GoPro if I took it to them??
