[ New ]
Are you able to attach an external battery to the hero 9. If so how. What is the biggest memory card a hero 9 supports

@greencave42617, there's currently no GoPro external battery for HERO9 Black. However, the camera will work normally when powered from an external power source 5V 1A (5V 2A recommended for HERO9 Black, HERO8 Black, HERO7 Black, Silver and White, HERO6 Black, Fusion, HERO5 Black, and HERO5 Session) via USB-C cable. This is perfect for capturing long videos and time-lapse events.

In addition to this, I suggest removing the battery if you will be using the camera for very long-term shooting (e.g.Timelapse) to prevent the camera from overheating – at some point, preventing potential damage to the battery as well. Other users have expressed similar suggestions when using an external power source for continuous recording.

On a side note, without the battery installed, the camera will eventually turn off the moment that the external power stops.

Heads Up: Because the door is open, your camera is not waterproof when charging.

hi @aenriquez  so are you saying to remove the battery completely and leave the door off?  what if you have a telesin door with the USB opening? I'd like to do a 3-4 day timelapse of a reno starting soon

why would it overheat with the battery inside when its technically not being used? what if i need to switch battery banks mid capture? does the same apply to a hero 7
