Error message when trying to upload videos

All of a sudden out of the blue I cannot upload video files to my computer.  I attach the cable and it starts to upload and then within a minute or so I get the error message "A device attached to the system is not functioning".  I tried various USB ports but no help, I thought the cable may have gone bad so I bought a brand-new one but got the same error message.  I cannot even connect my Hero 4 to charge it because the same error message comes up (and a bright red light glows on the front of the camera next to the screen) and the camera will not charge.  Any idea what is suddenly wrong???

Thank you for trying to isolate the issue.

This could probably be a loose connection on the camera's USB port.

Have you tried charging it using a wall adapter?

This could probably be a loose connection on the camera's USB port.

Have you tried charging it using a wall adapter?

Yes I have tried to charge it via a wall charger, it does not work.  The bright red light next to the camera's screen comes on, and it will not charge.  I can probably upload the video files via a Micro SD Adapter, but if I cannot recharge the camera it will soon be completely inoperable.  If the issue is with the camera's USB port, is there any way to repair that?
