Driving me nuts Hero 7 black and bluetooth
[ New ]So when I got my Hero 7 black I tried this - turning off WiFi and turning off camera and then trying to initiate connection in the app. I was hoping, but no luck. But them I realized I had never tried to pair my phone with the camera in the traditional method. Do I did that. And saw the Bluetooth connection seemed to stay connected after I shut off the camera agin with no WiFi,
But I didn’t really see anything in the manual supporting my ad theory and I also didn’t find anything about disabling Bluetooth (like you would turn off WiFi) to get that extra juice.
So, am I wrong. In order to wake camera up, Bluetooth paired or not, do I have to have WiFi on? If so, Bluetooth is only really there to make the initial pairing easy?? Or I’m I messed up as messed up can be? Or should I be able to wake up a “wifi OFF” namers wth bluetooth and have THAT turn on WiFi?? So then what is the purpose of bt pairing with phone? Sure I know about remotes and stuff, but phone?
Set me straight. I’m a quick learner!

Re: Driving me nuts Hero 7 black and bluetooth
[ New ]Yes, connections need to be turned on. WiFi on/off is handled by the camera.
When you initiate a connection, first Bluetooth is used to establish the connection and then WiFi is turned in automatically. When the camera is turned off or the connection terminated, WiFi is automatically turned off after awhile, but Bluetooth stays on for 8 hours and then shuts off. With connections on, only Bluetooth is turned on when you power on the camera. WiFi only gets turned on when you initiate a connection or QuikStory auto Download starts.

Re: Driving me nuts Hero 7 black and bluetooth
[ New ]But now it makes sense that you can’t really keep the Wi-Fi on and the wireless connections refers to both the Bluetooth and the Wi-Fi working hand-in-hand together. Bluetooth to power up and turn on Wi-Fi.
Thanks. I guess I could re-read the manual and see where I missed this it I was thinking too much like a hero 4 user!

Re: Driving me nuts Hero 7 black and bluetooth
[ New ]Hero 4 has wifi and Bluetooth,, Hero 5 started using BLTE. today the Hero 7 uses wifi in various ways.
Wake up allows you to simply turn the camera on by voice and record video until the battery is depleted, you can get around 8 hours in standby for available recording,
wi-fi can be left on and BLTE acts as a sniffer when the actual camera is turned off and no activity is given in a 10 minute time the BLTE turns off wi-fi the battery then starts to drain a percentage or so every day. with theconnection wifi on/off.
bluetooth is used twice two separate connections made one for the wireless connection, one for Lve stream.
just some notes if we did not know.
