Do I need to acknowledge the battery low notification?

Hi

My direct question is:  For a Hero 5 Black, do I need to clear the battery low notification on the lcd before I can start capturing video.

Now some more detail.

Thae application is snow skiing with the camera on my helmet.  What I have been doing is taking off my ski glove and pressing the side button to turn it on and then the top button to start capturing video.  This is all done by touch and feel with the camera mounted on my head / helmet.

So if there is a battery low warning I will not see it.

I understand that the battery low warning needs to be acknolwedged before I could start captuing video.

This means that I would have to take my helmet off each time to confirm that there is not a battery low warning and if so to press the red x on the lcd to acknowledge / clear the warnign norification.

If this is all true are there any work arounds?

What if I have hte lcd turned off?  What happens then.

When I ski I plan to shoot as much video as I can and let the battery die.  I don't mind this.  If there was a way to turn the battery low notification off I would.

Any ideas or comments?

Thanks

Re: Do I need to acknowledge the battery low notification?

Hi @swiftpeak62234,

The camera's "battery low" notification cannot be disabled.

Usually, once this prompt pops up on your camera's touch display, you can just tap the screen for it to disappear. The same thing can be done when this notification shows up while you're capturing video, and it should not affect the recording process.

Given your situation, what I suggest is that you can utilize the QuikCapture feature on your HERO5 Black camera -- this enables the ability to power on the camera and record automatically with the press of a single button.

When the camera is off and QuikCapture is enabled, you can turn the camera on and immediately begin capturing video or Time Lapse photos just by pressing the Shutter/Select button. Press once for video, press and hold for a few seconds for Time Lapse photos. Press again to stop recording and power off the camera. To toggle this feature, go to Preferences > QuikCapture.

In addition, the camera should still continue to record even if the "battery low" prompt pops up on the screen.

Hopefully this helps!

Ann
