My GoPro Hero 5 has the same defect as many many other customers have reported. I used it twice during 2018 and on the second time it started heating up and shutting down. I then noticed a small drop of water on the screen although the battery compartment was completely dry. I assumed that it would dry out and checked the camera today because I am about to go on vacation to the beach with my wife and two young daughters but the drop is still there and the camera still doesn't start up. I spent a fortune on the camera and on many GoPro accessories (extra battery, battery charger, the floating handler, etc) and can't use it and we're losing precious memories of our girls growing up. Please let me know how to send in the camera for a free repair (or exchange). I can send pictures of the camera, the receipt, pictures of the accessories that I purchased.

That is a very unfortunate experience to have happen with your camera. You should try contacting GoPro directly rather than posting the problem in a public support forum. Please use the contact options listed here:
