Not the best presentation I'll admit, but in the following video I compare the Hero6 against the other GoPro cameras with side by side split screen. You will be able to see the difference in color, stabilization, clarity, dynamic range and see some low light footage at the end.
All of the cameras, except Hero HD and Session H4, are set to 2.7/30 with stabilization on (if the camera has it) and Protune on with default settings. Hero HD is on 1080/30 and the Session (H4) is set to 1440/30 as these are the max resolutions for these cameras.

Thanks for sharing @danielr1 but I also think the black5 is still doing a decent job, that’s to say that while I agree the 6 is a bit better (don’t like the oversaturated look I know there is flat profile but that’s not the point) it’s not enough of an upgrade to spend the money. I was hoping for cleaner 240fps or higher and it’s mushy moire so that was my dealbreaker.
The new new codec will mature if they tweak the colour profile I am sure But I will pass on the 6 and hopefully this time next year the 7 will meet my needs.
Thanks for the vid though it helped convince me what I already saw around the interweb’s.

WHen the Hero 4 was the all time favorite, and we all anticipated on the Hero 5, No one knew what was in store, and low and behold a totally new camera. It Kind of repeated again the Hero 6 an All new camera, I want to get one, love the idea they doubled their frame rates and offered in most settings for creating the ultimate slow motion ever. With the new chip released, and possibally a new sensor if not, the coloring is all new and gopro must tweak it fast. It is not my laptop, pc, tv it's going to be interesting down the road what gopro will do with the settings?
What ifind very interedting that gopro may have in store as the Fusion soon to release and the apps software early 2018, and soon to be worked on and release of the Hero 6 Session, or discontinuing hte model. If they do over the session we may see a mini screen to a battery door this time round, along with the wireless on which I find awesome as a feature. I one day will update, just not as this time.
The camera in my eyes still has bugs to work out like any new product found on the market. I'll wait for a special deal knowing you can get a free sdxc card bundled, I will not pay retail this time round. thanks again for the sharing of hte video it's really appreciated in the hard work we put in
forgot to add in Love working with the HEVC files I use Magix and my Sony, the only problem I have is exporting with HEVC, not a hard file to work with.

I have since seen some better looking 240fps in nice light, so I may have been a bit to harsh on the 6. The colours are still way off for me but this may just be a WB issue GoPro needs to address. @danielr15 Could you tell me if the Hero 6 has the ability for custom WB? I ask this as the use of the grey card implies so unless you using it for post?

This is the video
In the video I freeze the frame several times. In it, you can see that the Hero6 is much more detailed and clear frame by frame. This not only looks better, IMO, while the video is running, but is very important if you want to get a screen grab picture.
As far as custom wb, it is the same as on the Hero5 and other Hero models. You can set the wb kelvin manually or use auto or native. I used the card to show what the camera was doing automatically. I think the Hero6 does the best job, especially when I flip the card and show the white side of the card.

Hi @danielr15 when I had a look at the first clip in my editor of choice for Colour Correction With the gray card in view for the HB5 both cameras end up almost identical in colour (apart from the sky where the HB6 is far superior) so I saw that the HB6 to my eyes has an issue with WB and easily corrected in post. It also has much better dynamic range than the HB5. So the HB6 has in some ways redeemed itself, a little nudge on the blue channel and the colours are back in check for the most part.
Thanks for the video and clearing up the WB question.
