Hello!!! i had some problems about charging. well you need see the amperage. i find this article.. bellow you can see.
- HERO5 Black
To charge your HERO5 Black, use the USB-C cable that was provided with your camera, along with a USB wall charger or computer USB port.
- Ensure that the Connections setting is off (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Auto Upload), and power off the camera.
- Hold down the Latch Release button on the side door, then slide the door open.
- Connect the camera to a USB wall charger that outputs 5V 2A (ideal), or 5V 1A (minimum). NOTE: Charging times may vary based on the charger and its output.
- Alternatively, you can connect the camera to the USB port on a computer. For the fastest results while using a computer USB port, try to use a port on the back of a desktop computer. If using a laptop computer, please ensure that it is connected to wall power for the duration of the camera charging process.
- The camera status light turns on during charging and turns off when charging is complete.

@redpike47524 - Are you plugging the camera into a computer or into a wall plug? If it's a wall plug, what charger plug are you using?

Brand new camera. no one knows if you got FW 1.02 factory so in order to see it really chargings . plug in look UNDER the camera there is a LED. Stupid place to have a charger light. GoPro corrected in FW 1.20 so if you are not updated to FW 1.57 , no between firmware's?
If no light is lit then press the mode for ten seconds. see again. take out cable plug it takes 20 seconds to see it?
1 you may se the back light flicker a fast second and go away. then stay solid.
report back. if you're still with troubles

It's also possible to charge while the camera in operating. At least that's what GoPro is advertising in their introduction video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8OwdgXGxKU
