Of course, you cannot charge gopro (any model) in the rain whilst retaining the waterproof element of the camera.
However, does anyone know of any kind of casing that enables you to charge whilst in the rain with better water protection?
I ask this, as intend on mounting gopro outside on top of car for trip, with it being charged constantly via power banks, so would love to be able to get some kind of casing to protect from water when charging - which would enable us to keep shooting throughout the trip, come rain or shine.

As a gopro user since they first started making them there are some options that we used to use back in the day.....
You don't mention what version of hero, so I'll assume you mean the 6/7.
You could try..
Buying a supersuit and then modifying it so you could remove the camera charging cover and then feed the cable through the supersuit into the chargin port, once you've done that you could expoy the external bit of the case to keep it pretty watertight.
A second and probably easier option would be to buy and modify a standard IP65 rated electrical housing, it wouldn't take much to cut a hole big enough for the lens to go through, and the charging cable could go through on of the standard cable holes, which then have a grommet.
Plenty of options/diy hacks. There were some companies who did cases (with waterproof charging ports back in the hero1/hero2 days). I might go and have a look around to see if I can find any of them.
