Hi all, I have had a number of GoPros and have just upgraded from a Hero 5 to a Hero 7 I also have a Hero. I use these on my motorbike with two smart remotes. I have had problems using the Hero 6 and the smart remote while charging it from the power supply on my motorbike, The camera froze and lost connection with the Smart Remote.
The Hero 5 would charge and allow me to use the remote without any issues, however, as I have mentioned I have upgraded this to a Hero 7.
While testing this, I have discovered it also freezes and disconnects from the Smart Remote.
Has anyone else come across this, should I have issues charging, using it and operating with the Smart Remote>

I have tried a combination of cables (I now have a test bench in my kitchen). The most stable solution (so far) involves using the GoPro charging cable that came with it and an coiled male to female extension cable. That works most of the time but the remote controller still loses contact with the Hero 7.
When it loses contact, I have to switch everything off and re-establish the bluetooth link. That is not easy when riding a motorbike in a group.
I need a colied cable that will go from the charging point on the right fairing of my motorbike to the camera installed on a RAM mount on the right handlebar. In the past I used batteries, but I really like the idea of keeping the GoPro charged. I have a second GoPro (Hero 6) mounted on the windscreen that I will use batteries with.
So the question is "Why does the Smart Remote keep disconnecting from the Hero 7 when charging?"

Just like any other electronic devices, it is best to use it once it is charged.
If you wish to keep it plugged in, you may try taking the battery out.
Regarding the dropped connection, does the same happen when the camera is not plugged in?

I can't be the only one in the world who wants to charge a GoPro and use it. The laptop I am using is plugged into the mains and I am using it. Most devices that I can think of allow charging and use. I charged and used my GoPro Hero 5 Black and used my Smart remote with it but when I got a Hero 6 I ran into problems. I gave up on the Hero 6 charging and using along with a remote.
Now I have a Hero 7 and have sold the Hero 5 and again have problems.
How do other users do a long Timelaspe ?
How do other users use a GoPro as a dashcam and charge it from their car?
Today, GoPro officially said it would damage the camera if I use it while charging.
I think GoPro sell a power bank, does it work ?
Challenging stuff. Thanks for the response.
