Cannot connect to camera wifi from app

Hello,

 

I am trying to set up my new Hero 10 Black camera.

 

I started the GoPro Quick app and paired the camera. I reached the screen where it asks to rename the device and I skipped the step.

The app seems configured, however, I cannot connect to the camera wifi: no preview, no possibility to update the firmware.

When I try to connect, the app remains waiting for an indefinite period of time.

 

I checked in the wifi connections on the phone: the GoPro is listed, if I try to connect to the network manually it asks for a password. I tried to insert the password that appears in the wireless setup screen of the camera, but it is not accepted.

 

I already tried to unpair, delete the network from the phone, reset wireless connections from the camera, reboot both devices, etc.

The option to turn off wifi when the internet connection is not available is already disabled. I also disabled the auto-reconnect feature of all the known networks.

 

My phone is a Samsung Note 20 Ultra with android 11

Hello, @daringhike5810. Try manually updating your HERO10 Black first following the steps at HERO10 Black: Software Update Instructions. After the update, do a factory reset. 

 

The phone and the app should pair as normal after these steps.

Thanks for your reply.
I have already upgraded the Camera. It did not solve the issue.
Eventually, I found the problem: it was an app conflicting with the pairing procedure.
I can't tell precisely which one it was, though. I uninstalled several apps before retrying.

@daringhike5810, I have a few troubleshooting suggestions that will help: 

  1. Restart your mobile device. 
  2. Once your phone is back on, turn on/off the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. 
  3. Delete the GoPro camera under the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi entries in your mobile device’s settings. 
  4. Remove your camera entry from the GoPro Quik's history. 
  5. If using an Android device, clear the cache for the GoPro Quik in your device's settings under the "Applications" section. 
  6. Kill the app and relaunch it. 
  7. On your GoPro camera, turn the Wi-Fi off and on. Then restart the camera. 
  8. Now, put the camera in pairing mode. 
  9. Open the GoPro Quik on your phone and tap the camera icon. The app will try to connect via Bluetooth and take you through the pairing process. Follow the on-screen instructions in the app. 
    • Note: Some phones and regions require the camera to be in a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band, you may also try this out. 
  10. For future reconnections, just make sure that the camera’s Wi-Fi is on and you’ll be all set.
