Cannot connect to GoPro app

I am using a Hero8 and trying to connect to my Pixel3 phone. With using the GoPro app, it finds the camera, but then is unable to connect to the camera to do any functions, view media, or perform updates.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. It will let me change the name of the camera. But then when I click on "Control the camera" or "View Media", it comes up with the the screen to choose the camera I want to connect but doesn't show any cameras and says it's unable to locate any cameras. I'm on a 2 week scuba trip with no computer and no way to view it send any images (besides the tiny built in a screen).

Anybody have any help to offer?

We have recently released an update for the GoPro app on Android.
Please make sure you are on the latest version.
Following updates, it's a good idea to restart your phone before re-pairing your camera to the GoPro app.
