Can the auto rotate sensor of any of the GoPros break/malfunction?
[ New ]Can the auto rotate sensor of any of the GoPros break? I'm having trouble with mine auto rotating before recording. It only auto rotates when I select the orientation before turning it on. Is there a fix to this like a software update or is this a faulty hardware issue?

Re: Can the auto rotate sensor of any of the GoPros break/malfunction?
[ New ]Hi @rambernardo,
When did this started from happening? What camera do you have? The GoPro camera, with Auto Image Rotation enabled, will automatically adjust orientation -- without having to alter the camera settings.
When this feature is enabled, you just need to flip your camera upside down before recording and the orientation will change accordingly. Once you start recording, the orientation is locked. This way, the camera retains its orientation if it (or you) is flipped during recording.
If this doesn't work as expected, you can try to reset your camera to its factory default settings following the instructions HERE.
In addition, re-flashing the firmware update of the camera can help correct any errors with the current software installation. Follow the manual update instructions specified on this article: https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/How-to-Update-GoPro-Cameras
Let us know how it works for you.

Re: Can the auto rotate sensor of any of the GoPros break/malfunction?
[ New ]I noticed that the Auto Image Rotation not working just a few days ago. I have a GoPro Hero 5 by the way.
I do have the auto image rotation on. Once I have the camera on, the menu/settings don't self-orient anymore despite changing the orientation.
I have also factory reset the device several times to make sure it wasn't a software issue, but so far I have had no success in fixing this issue. My GoPro also has the latest firmware as well.
But again, back to my question. Can the auto rotate sensor of any GoPro break or malfunction?

[ New ]So far the G force gauge is working and is visible when the metadata was turned on Quik. I just can't get the auto-rotate function to work when the device is on before starting recording. I'd have to choose the orientation first before turning the camera on.

Re: Can the auto rotate sensor of any of the GoPros break/malfunction?
[ New ]@rambernardo, the orientation will be locked when you press the Shutter button to start the recording. That being said, if the orientation doesn't change when you tilt the camera right side up (camera is mounted upside down) before you hit the Shutter button, despite having the Auto Image Rotation enabled, please let our Support team know so they can help you with the next steps. You may reach them by phone or chat.
