Can't speed up or slow down video playback [ New ]

Hello, using Hero8 black. After I record video and send media to the phone via the GoPro app,

I cannot speed up or slow down the clip playback. The speed setting appears on screen, (the snail and the leaping cat icons), but the options to speed up or slow down are "grayed out" and the slider won't move.

What am I missing? THanks!

If I change to the "slow-mo" setting then the playback option does allow slowing down, but not speeding up. The speed-up slider is still grayed out.  I'd like a recording setting for general purpose that I could access the speed up or slow down slider completely. Thanks all! New to this.

What phone are you using?

We did some checks and found out that on lower-end devices, slowmo/fastmo playback options may be deactivated as it causes lags.

I'm using a pixel 2. I'll try my pixel 3a and see if results are different
