Can't Connect to my Hero 3

A friend gave me his Hero 3 and he can't remember his password. I have registered myself with the Serial number for it and when I try to link to it thru the GoPro app it comes back wrong password.

Please proceed with the manual firmware update + Wi-Fi reset.

  1. From the HERO3 update page click "Update your camera manually"0
  2. On the first page, enter your serial number and registration information and then click "Next Step."
  3. On the next page, select 'Wi-Fi & Firmware Update' with the blue check mark and click "Next Step."
  4. On the next page, enter your new camera name and password.
  5. Follow the rest of the on-screen prompts to complete the rest of the update process. 

Once done, try pairing the camera again.

You may need to forget the Bluetooth ID on your phone.
