Camera Stops Recording ALWAYS even with AC Power

[ New ]

This camera CONTINUES to stop recording even when battery is on a constant charge. Sometimes if im lucky I get 100min but most times cuts out around 50-90min and I need to bluetooth to the wifi from phone then re-connect and press record again. The problem is I never know when it stops.

Changed SD cards 128 + 256 Sandisk,

USED certified gopro charging cables, multiple

USED different USB chargers that plug into outlet

Camera always states charging which is good so not on battery only

Going straight into the charging port (no adaptor pass thru).

Used 5k, 4k (all rates)

Continues to stop recording whenever it wants.

Camera is becoming useless! The camera should be recording continuously until SD is FULL!

Re: Camera Stops Recording ALWAYS even with AC Power

Hello, @socalanthony. When the recording is stopped, does the camera turn off? If it does, do you recall seeing any message associating the shut down with a high temperature?

Please note that the camera may show battery charging when connected to an external power source but this state does not continue once the camera starts recording. The battery does not get charged while recording.

Considering that you are using 5K, 4K settings, could it be that the recording is interrupted due to the camera turning off? For cameras that feature unique high-performance video modes: 2.7K and higher resolutions, and/or frame rates above 60fps, it is normal for the camera to become warm and use more power when using these modes.

Learn more about it through Camera Performance in Extreme Temperatures. Also, see if removing the battery and recording with the use of an external power source makes a difference.

If you're running the camera off external power, remove the internal battery first.  Otherwise your camera will run off the battery and shut down once the battery is depleted.  It will then charge the battery once recording has stopped.  So if you want to stop that from happening, plug in your external power supply and remove the internal battery.

Just for Sh**s and Giggles has anyone actually tried to run their camera plugged into a power source on 128 or 256gb formatted SD card until it’s Full?

Thanks for the advice I’ll definitely try this but oddly enough I’ve never had to do this on any previous model.
