did anybody manage to fix this problem? my gopro turns on but the lcd screen does not. has not even been out of hte original packaging for more than a 12 hours. been on the phone with go pro support for more than 2 hours only to be hung up on... so frustrated with this company right now

I just unboxed and charged a Hero 5 Black. The touch screen will not come on. The online advice is update the firmware. Wonderful idea, but the app on my phone says open up utility drawer etc. to connect to the new camera - which requires I have the touch screen.
Catch 22. I think I'm going to return it to Best Buy, try one more. If second one is similarly DOA, I'm returning for refund and looking at other camera solutions.

My Hero Black 5 worked well for maybe 10 recordings and screen went blank. Everything else works, it still records and the small square LCD in the front works too. The 2" color touchscreen in the back does not work. It will still record but I am stuck on the last settings I recorded with. Can't playback video activate wifi, can't change fps, iso, reolution, etc. Basically the same isuue brought up by many others.
I updated the software manually without any problem and still no luck. Just like everyoe else.
It is frustrating to see so many people with the exact same issue for which the same GoPro Support responses and fixes have not worked. If there is no fix, then tell us. Otherwise, please give us the easiest way to return the camera or get it fixed. It is not an inexpensive item and I have bought quite a bit of GoPro attachments, extra battery and charger too.
The 24/7 customer support does not seem to apply to chat because it has been 'closed' when I tried to contact them. Not having an e-mail for support is also troublesome.
Please let me know what to do when all of the recommended fixes don't work and online support refers us to online chat support that has, so far, been unreachable

I now have TWO Hero 5s with the same issue as everyone else on this and multiple other forums. I have spent several hours scouring the internet to figure out how to resolve a crippling issue with two brand new cameras. I have tried updating the firmware directly as well as through Quik, checked the SD card list, and done everything else humanly possible to fix the blank screen issue.
It boggles my mind that you guys would release a product that is so clearly flawed, and now I have left to call your useless customer support with no option to return the camera since I am just outisde the return window.
Any ideas on how to proceed other than leaving bad reviews on every site i can find?
I have many of your other products which i love, but the Hero 5 seems to be a flawed piece of garbage and your company doesnt seem to want to fess up to that fact from everything i have read.
