@hardytree78714 - If you have a black LCD on your camera, the most likely cause is some type of damage or disconnection in the camera itself. I wonder if that is due to the rushing of a product to market, put a bad batch of gopro's out there? not all do getthat problem, and comes down to a hardware problem then a flash problem. yes best way to solve this is return first, support if out of return policy.

I appreciate your willingness to help. I have called the customer support time and waited on hold for more than thirty minutes four times in the last couple days and have not even spoken to a single person.
I have also tried teh live chat option, and it has said "Sorry, all agents are helping other customers right now. Please try again later." for the last 48 hours.
We purchased this camera for a trip coming up next week and now I am stuck with a worthless brick. Any ideas? I have had great experiences with my four previous cameras and my Karma, but i dont understand how i got two dud Hero 5's and cant even get a response from your company.
Is there any better way to go about this?

I have this problem with customer service as well. My gopro has a black screen however it responds to touch - the front small screen shows changes to settings etc..when i move my fingers on the black screen. However there is nothing on the screen itself - its blank with the back light on so there is connection. I have updated the firmware twice. Also customer service sucks - i was on hold for 15-20 minutes three times and gave up. Also online chat says no one available. PLEASE HELP!!!

this "black screen" issue is known for the last year, nevertheless GOPRO did nothing to recall the
This quality issue ia unheard off for a 400$ product.
Gopro is swamped but angry customers ' that bought the camera for their next trip' and gets endless frastrations for bad customers
support ' and no problem resolution.
Someone need to to pull them to court, and have them payback some of the cost !!
I am guessing that this issue will be reflected in their yearly financial performance.
