A six month wait for a new version of Fusion Studio is crazy ! I had to downgrade from Mojave and reinstall Mac OS High Sierra to run the Fusion Studio beta and 1.4 is still lacking in basic features like keyframes for overcapture. Not being able to afford the high price of Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro I'm using Insta360 Studio which is a very quick and simple editor with keyframes. Works great but it can only edit H.264 stitched film. GoPro, get your act together ! Smiley Mad

Since I can't find a feedback channel for the beta, I'll post here:
Fusion on the beta fw, in multishot mode on battery power, started recording impossible gps info to the exif.
These exif lines are 10 meters apart:

N54°15'0.00" E26°0'15.36"

In 3k you can't record more then 7min / max file size and camera doesn't make another file and also doesn't mention anything about it will be going back to 1.8 software will see if it helps

GoPro Fusion Studio v1.4 (Beta) Unfortunately it always crashes while rendering my movies. Unfortunately there is no error message. When a movie is partially finished and you can play it, is the movie overhead?

What do you mean by, "overhead"?

What are your computer specs?

If you contact the GoPro Support Team they can take a look at your system and make suggestions for optimizing.

I have an i7 32GB RAM GTX 1050 ti SSD and the Beta Fusion Studio works fine for me. You just might need a little tweeking of your system or upgrade your specs.

Sorry, I still don't understand re: "overhead". I tried YouTube but couldn't find any videos describing 360 overhead or 180 reversed (except some car companies describing their dash cams) 😉

Anyway, your computer system should be powerful enough (I had 16 GB RAM and get much better performance with 32 GB so you might want to consider it). Contact the GoPro Support Team by chat (not phone) and they can look at your system and see if there are any settings/drivers you might need.

I have had issues with crashing I was able to work around.  The number one issue seems to be a problem with memory deallocation, because if you move a large amount of content (20mins+) onto a fast hard drive, and try to use those local files to render 360 video, your systems memory will be consumed unitl there is no more available, when fusion software suddenly just vanishes without a word.  If you watch your memory consumption, and pause / resume the video periodically, the memory consumption will gradually fall back down to baseline while paused.  Try ctl-alt-del > task manager, Performance, and just watch that memory usage %, when it gets close to 100%, pause until it gets back to baseline.  When I run overcapture renders straight off the camera, this problem does not come up at all.

If I copied the video data to a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1 TB and loaded it into the program with GoPro Fusion Studio v1.4 (Beta) for editing, the video data will be displayed 180° upside down. When rendering the program crashes after a while. If I put the same video data on a normal HDD hard disk, everything is displayed correctly in Fusion Studio v1.4 (Beta) and I can calculate the video data without problems until the 360° video is finished.

 

I think GoPro Fusion Studio v1.4 (beta) has a problem with managing SSD system.

Overhead = when the video is displayed the wrong way around, it is rotated 180°.
o° right around, not rotated. 180°, image is rotated. The video is displayed rotated. If you do a handstand, then you are overhead. Do you understand now???

OK, so you are saying that after you have rendered your video, the output file plays upside down, correct?

 

Since we are discussing 360 video, 180 can also refer to a half turn to either the left or right horizontally.  I've never had the output file come out in any way other than how I had it set in Fusion for render and output.  Are you using one of the OverCapture settings? I always export as vr 360 and do my edits in Adobe Premier Pro, so this may be why I'm not experiencing this.

No, that's not what I do and mine.
I'm uploading the new 360° video files into Fusion Studio v1.4 (beta). There the video data will be displayed wrong from the beginning (180° rotated) when I have the data on the SSD disk. Ok

 

If I load the same video data from an HDD disk, Fusion Studio v1.4 (Beta) will display everything correctly.

 

Fusion Studio v1.4 (beta) has a problem with SDD.

 

Try it and load your video data from an SSD disk and let Fusion Studio v1.4 (Beta) render it. Let's see if there is the same problem as with me or as with semegraph

Keeps crashing without any message.

I had the task manager running to watch what is happening

CPU is at about 97%, GPU at about 60% memory goes up to 12gb, down to ~2 again. After 3 times rising and falling the application ends up with "stopped" in the taskmanager and closes.

 

Installed RAM: 16gb

CPU: Threadripper 1900x 8core

System: Windows 10 1903

GPU: Radeon RX 570

 

However Windows generates crash dumps

You are getting a lot of CheckSum errors (data sent isn't matching data received). This could be coming from the GPU, processor, serial communications, or just a weird bug in the software. Obviously there are some others having issues, so we can't rule out the software, however I have noticed that most issues with Fusion Studio (on this forum and others) relates to AMD chips.

That's not to say that issues with NVIDIA don't happen (previous post was with a GTX 1060), but the CheckSum error points in the direction of your hardware IMO. Try starting up a chat with the GoPro Support Team and see if they can identify the issue. https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs

If you downgrade to the non Beta release of Fusion Studio do you still have this issue?

Actually, both hard drives I have run into this problem with are solid state drives as well, I ran into the issue with both internal and USB 3.0 external solid state drives.  My 360 view is also usually backwards, but I just assume it was because I had the camera backwards :)

 

In your scenario, does it begin to render and then close itself, like mine?  If so, do try pausing the rendering when the momery consumption gets up above 80 or 90 percent, and watch how the memory usage drops back down while paused.  When it stops dropping, resume, until it hits 80 or 90 again.  That's how I've gotten through hours of rendering 360 video.  I actually wrote an incredibly stupid windows application that just clicks a spot in the screen periodicaly so I can put the pause button in that spot and walk away from renders.

Okay, so on normal HDD, I'm doing fine with Fusion Studio v1.4 Beta. The memory uses approx. 50% and remains so the whole rendering time.

 

Fusion Studio v1.3 runs on both systems (HDD & SSD) without any problems.

 

GoPro will have to make some improvements.

Hopefully GoPro will make some improvements, but with their new Fusion coming out this year, I fear one of the things that happens is that the new Fusion will actually do stitching in camera.  While this is great for improving workflow for end users, it means that the current Fusion owners may not see an update with Fusion studio.

I would think there will be an option for onboard stitching or leaving the files as is for the new Fusion.

 

It is nice to be able to "restitch" the raw files as new improved software is created.  (And hopefully more powerful video cards are available to cut down on the rendering time).

After some tests I can ay it is caused by the Cineform Codec, Prores does work.

I think that depends on the hardware involved.  If both are an option then I can see it as having an incamera stitch at a lower resolution vs stitching on a PC at a higher resolution.

 

However, makes more sense not to have that as an option.  If the camera can do the stitching onboard, then not only do you cut down on the workflow and time required by the end user, but you no longer have to have an entire department trying to  fix the current version of GoPro Fusion Studio.  You also don't have to keep that department active dealing with every new issue caused by the latest driver update for a graphics card, processor, hard disc drive... etc.

 

This also proves true for those working on the GoPro App, with in camera stitching you cut down on people having to update the app to work with every new phone release, O/S release, hardware and software combination out there....

 

Everytime someone has an issue stitching video or photo's using either their mobile device or their PC, it makes the product look bad.  Eliminating that possibility not only free's up staff, but also cuts down on user complaints, improves the end users experience and reduces the negative press associated with a bad experience.

Glad you got it working, sucks to be relegated to just one video codec though.  How about audio, are you able to render with stereo & 360 or are you just stuck with stereo audio as an option.

Audio does work in stereo and 360°, I need to reeconde the videos with a different program anyway. Since fusion studio doesn´t allow 264 beyond 4K.

the h.264K codec has a maximum efficient resolution of 4K, it's actually a codec limitation and not an issue with the software.  It has been used for higher resolutions but the end files sizes have been larger compared to h.265 codec. Hence above 4K, programs tend to use a better codec.

 

It's also why I have been finding workarounds for stitching that don't use the h.264 codec, I don't want to drop the video quality down to 4K.  (also it doesn't work with TrailBlazer).

 

One would hope that GoPro have a team working on an update to Fusion studio, but since it's been over half a year since the last update which (imho) offered a slight bump in resolution but with worse reliability.....  I'm not seeing it as likely.  Especially if the Fusion 2 is going to offer "in camera" stitching, then why waste the resources on an Fusion Studio update if no longer needed?  I hope I'm way wrong and would love to be proven wrong, but I'm not holding my breath for an update...

Yes the files are larger, but h.265 requires more cpu/gpu power to decode and isn´t widely supported. Plus the encoding is insanely slow.

Aye, encoding with h.265 either requires extremely capable hardware or you need to record in smaller bites, 30 seconds to 2 mins at a time.  I've recorded some flights that lasted over an hour and rendered them using my laptop (i-8750 2.2GHz up to 4.1GHz, Nvidea Gforce GTX 1070, 32GB DDR4-2666 SDram, 512gb PCIe NVme M.2 SSD) and it's taken over 12 hours for stitching to complete.  It's great for short clips, but long ones like that, I usually start them at night time so they are complete by morning time.  

 

Using Adobe Premier Pro as my editor, I very rarely use h.265 as an output option, just takes far too long for encoding.

bonjour,tout vos concurrents (insta 360,dji)ce sont adaptés à premiere pro et after effects 2020 et malheureusement encore une fois un train de retard que ce soit sur les updates des cameras,des app ou des logiciels.Fusion studio 1.4 ne marche pas sous 2k20 et je ne veut pas etre imposé à rester sur premiere pro 2019.ma gopro fusion m'avais couté 730 euros pour un suivi mediocre sur la partie software en parallele de cela j'ai une camera insta one x de chez insta360 la difference est enorme tout le temps des mise à jour pour augmenter les possibiltés creative de la camera, le logiciel insta studio est une merveille de simplicité et d'efficacité adoubé par le plug in premiere pro (meme 2020!!)Gopro vous etes une marque connu mais vous pensez que seul la marque suffit,actuellement non!derriere aucun suivi sofware si ce n'est chaque année acheter un upgrade de la camera precedente et de laisser tomber le produit.J'en veux pour preuve la fusion est enterrée au profit de la MAX qui subira le meme sort.En tout cas pour la camera 360 vous avez perdu un client en me poussant à aller voir ailleurs et j'ai trouvée mieux,en me respectant en tant que consommateur avant tout.Kodak pensait etre intouchable.......

GoPro Fusion Studio 1.4 works just fine and has nothing to do with Adobe Premier Pro. It does one thing and one thing only, creates a single 360 degree spherical video from 2 seperate video tracks.

 

Your issue is not with GoPro Fusion Studio, it is with the GoPro Reframe FX pluggin.  GoPro released a pluggin that works great with Premier Pro 2019 (Reframe).  They then released a newer version of their pluggin (Reframe FX) that works even better with Premier Pro 2019.  Thne Adobe Premier Pro did an update that screwed all that up.  So GoPro have to go back and rework their pluggin so that it works with the newer version of Premier Pro.  This will take time but luckily you have the option of working with Premier Pro 2019 until the pluggin is ready.

 

If you have an issue with this, why not complain to Adobe for releasing a version of their software which has screwed up your pluggin and your ability to edit footage?

The Fusion 2.0 beta firmware and 1.4 Fusion Studio beta are the most current I'm able to find. Close to a year now and still in Beta? Has GoPro abandonded the Fusion or am I missing something? Is there a standard build out somewhere that I can't find?

The Firmware is a Beta and works just fine.  Fusion Studio 1.4 also works but may need a work around.

je ne parle pas de fusion studio qui est indispensable pour le stiching et encore j'aurais preferé que fusion studio nous permette de travailler totalement nos videos sans avoir à utiliser un logiciel tiers et on n'aurais pas tout ce bazar à chaque sorti de premiere pro.Actuellement je suis obligé d'exporter en h264 et utiliser le logiciel de insta360 qui me permet de faire ce que je ne peu pas pas faire avec fusion studio,ce n'est pas dingue ça?Je n'utilise plus premiere pro 2019 car le nouveau est meilleur et je veux de la place sur mon ssd.gopro n'a qu'à echanger avec adobe poir chaque nouvelle iteration,pourquoi le plug de insta360 pour premiere pro est stable?en plus à jour pour le 2020,pourquoi en tant que possesseur de fusion je galere avec un plug in qui doit etre pret pour 2020 et toujours pas disponible?en nous donne des "betas" pourquoi gopro ne c'est pas faire de logiciel à part et si possible meme faire une application social network friendly aussi par la meme occasion,j'ai des produits dji et insta360 je n'ai jamais galerer sur les software(insuffisance de contenus)et mises à jours (tout 46 du mois)insuffisante rendent nos produits obsoletes(ma fusion 730e!)à contrario de mes autres cam d'actions dji et insta360 qui proposent des mises à jours continuelles afin de profiter au max d'une experience utilisateurs unique. Fusion studio son seul point positif est de pouvoir extraire sur divers codecs (prores et cineform)un atout pour la qualité visuel mais aucune proposition pour une post prod sur celui ci.Maintenant c'est mort il y a la Max qui est la (elle sort avec des specs tres en retard sur la concu qui propose de la 8k pour le meme prix).Je me resigne à bosser en systeme D,mais pour de la cam 360 gopro c'est fini!pour les cam d'action je reste consommateur car bon produit et consommateur de marque tel que DJI et insta360 qui proposent de vrais alternatives à gopro en hardware et software.Le seul bemol de ces marques à conrario de gopro est le support qui pour moi est le meilleur du marché,bonne continuation et bonne fetes

any official update on when this firmware is expected to go from Beta to actual Release? Are changes still being made based on user testing? I would like to know whether I should wait for the official release or just go ahead and install the Beta because that's all we're expected to get. Thanks in advance.

Fusion is mothballed, with all resource directed to support the Max. Don't expect this to go out of Beta, and don't expect any more FW versions for the Fusion. 

Go ahead and install it, it's reasonably stable

Most likely the official release is found in the GoPro Max and accompanying software. The Beta for Fusion being a way to test and improve firmware and software for Max. It's highly unlikely that any further development will be done, or released, for Fusion. It's probably safe to assume that the Fusion Beta updates are the last you'll see for Fusion.

The firmware for the Max would not be similar to the fusion. Just hoping someone from GoPro can chime in as to why this is still marked Beta... Are there major bugs?

Any idea as to when an updated version of GoPro Reframe FX pluggin will be avaialble to install on the updated Premier Pro 2020?

I unfotunetly did not intall this plugin before I updated to Premier 2020 and its now not an option to install at this point (its greyed out on the install screen and says 'skip').

Hello,

 

The Gopro Vr plug-ins are inableing me to render using OpenGL. If I uninstall Premeire Pro along with any files associated with the plug ins and reinstall PP I am able to use OpenGL for faster editing. Is there a fix to this without having to delete plugins?

 

My specs:

MB: X570 Aorus elite wifi

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x

GPU: Amd RX 580
