An entire morning of work... wasted. Thank you Quik!

Spent an entire morning shooting for work with a crew. Went home and connected the GoPro camera to Quik and waited for it to download the videos, only ot find out that it didn't do that but instead, deleted them forever. Thanks, Quik, you had ONE job.

Re: An entire morning of work... wasted. Thank you Quik!

@hardyrange25788 - I have flagged this to the Quik team. A couple of things are possible here - non-GoPro files were on the card, some files were corrupted, etc. I would recommend turning off the auto-delete option until we know for sure what's going on with your case.

Our team at https://gopro.com/help/PKBContactus can work with you on this.

Thanks,

Jeff

You may get lucky and recover them with an undelete program. Google Recuva and see if that helps.

Good idea @brianw409, thanks. Unfortunately, none of the recovery tools I tried found the files.

Still can't believe GoPro released such a faulty software.

Re: An entire morning of work... wasted. Thank you Quik!

Thanks, @jefft. I haven't touched the SD card, so all files were GoPro files. I guess file corruption is always a possibility, but still, deleting them without a notice is not very friendly way to deal with it. I doubt this is the case, though.

I have turned off the auto-delete feature, of course. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Is the support team able to recover my files?

@hardyrange25788 - The team won't be able to recover the files since we don't have the SD card they'd be on, but others have posted here recommending third-party data recovery programs that have worked for them.

Re: An entire morning of work... wasted. Thank you Quik!

@jefftThat was a rhetorical question, sorry. I just don't want to waste more time on this. Thanks for reporting it to the right team, hopefully they can fix it so it won't happen to more people.

Personally, I will not use Quik and fall back to copying the files manually from the card.
