5 GHz wifi band disappeared from menu in GoPro Max
[ New ]Hi, I have just received a replacement Max and I don't see the wifi band choice in the preferences menu in the camera.
I had this set up in my original camera and worked ok. Also, I can see the menu option in my Hero 9 and works in 5 ghz without any issue. So my guess is that my region (Spain) is not an issue here.
Was this (probably refurbished) camera originally from another region with 5 ghz restriction? Is that why I don't see the option in the menu or has it disappeared for every Max in one of the firmware updates? By the way, I have tried 2.0 and Labs, no luck.
Is there a way to bring the 5 ghz setting back? It is certainly affecting my auto upload speed.
Thanks,
Antonio.

Re: 5 GHz wifi band disappeared from menu in GoPro Max
[ New ]Hi @olmed0
There should be an option to change the Wi-Fi Band.
If you haven't yet, please try re-flashing the software.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Re: 5 GHz wifi band disappeared from menu in GoPro Max
[ New ]hopefully this is not yet another "feature-reduction" because of a so called "lawsuit".
Maybe someone claims that using the 5G band while recording a video , at the same time a thunderstorm is happening , is dangerous and a patent infringement.
So maybe someone will tell us , that it is only in the interest of our safety not to use 5g anymore ....I would'nt be surprised ... or it is only a bug in this particular refurbished-by-gopro-specialists cam..... or this cam has the newest , not yet released firmwareversion...

Re: 5 GHz wifi band disappeared from menu in GoPro Max
[ New ]Nah, probably a refurbished camera from a country with 5ghz restrictions.
I just hope I don't need to send the camera back and there's a why to get back that option in the menu. Will contact support on Monday 🤷♂️

Re: 5 GHz wifi band disappeared from menu in GoPro Max
[ New ]The agent in Support Team offered a replacement right away but I asked if there was something I could do to bring back the menu option myself, e.g. flash a "special" firmware, because I just received the replacement after weeks without the camera and don't want to spend another few weeks without it again.
After consultation with his supervisor I get an email saying:
"We know that you wanted to fix the issue on your Wi-Fi Band, as of now, we don't have further details when the next update will be release. I would suggest you connect the device to your phone from time to time to see if that will notify you for the new update."
Well, obviously that is not something that will be fixed with a "normal" firmware update, so that is useless advice.
If anybody knows a way to fix this, or if a GoPro developer wants to get in touch, I will wait a few days or weeks before asking for a replacement. Again .
Thanks,
Antonio.
