02.01 every video starts with a slight shift of footage

Hello !

I recently updated my Hero6 to 02.01 and realized that every video (with stabilization on) starts with a slight shifting of the footage.

This only happens in the first few frames, but the human eye can still realize that the footage has slightly moved/ shifted.

You can replicate this issue by putting the camera on a tripod to avoid any unwanted moves.

Record for a few seconds and check the first few frames of the footage.

You'll realized that it shifts quickly at the very beginning.

I opened a support case with GoPro just to be told that there is no problem, but GoPro is hesitating to confirm whether they can see the movement on the sample video or not.

Was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.

Cheers,

CJ

Yes !! hello ? here, me, yes...

I've been whimpering and snivelling on a few posts here and elsewhere about this very same issue I've noticed on my Gopro6. ANd never got any answer, like I was yelling in the emptiness... ;-)   And you might see a recent post of mine, here on this site, about that.

https://community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/Why-does-the-very-first-frame-jump-under-24-and-30-fps-modes/...

The very first frame under 24 fps and 30 fps modes is "shifted", jumping, like if the shootiing was reframed, and this gives a very unpleasnat watching... I don't get that under the 60 fps mode. Do you ?

Check my samples out and let me know.

Re: 02.01 every video starts with a slight shift of footage

Hi everyone!

Anti Shake and Full Stabilization is normally used on a moving platform to help compensate with movement.

If the recording is done on a tripod/steady mount we suggest turning the image stabilization OFF to avoid the "jump" you are seeing. The stabilization feature is recommended when recording while the camera is handheld/handheld on a mount.

Thanks!
